The Annual Day of Pride takes place on the first Friday of December and 2010 saw the 8th anniversary of the event which celebrates the achievements of all aspects of school life. Activities included academic competitions in the Science, Maths, Thai, Social Studies, Technology, Arts, Music, P.E. and Foreign Languages Departments.
Awards and scholarships were presented to top students in both academic and performing skills with activities as diverse as storytelling, general and science quizzes, A-Math, water rocketry, futsal, singing, spelling, speeches, Chinese dance, Chinese hand writing and body painting. There was even an egg protection competition which involved devising ways to drop eggs from a three storey building without breaking them!
The students also enjoyed watching a string combo mini concert, performance by the Dramatic Art Club and students’ class works exhibitions. There were also booths from outside organizations such as the British Council.
We would like to thank Ajarn Varee Patravanich, Mr. Kosol Prakam the Director of the Educational Service Area Office 1, Pol Maj-Gen Adisorn Ngamjitsuksri, the Tourist Police Commander and Mr Ben Svasti Thomson, British Honorary Consul who kindly presented certificates to outstanding academic students in the Thai and English Programmes and International Annexe.
In the evening, teachers, students and parents participated in a candlelight celebration in honour of His Majesty the King’s Birthday and watched performances by almost 2,000 students. The day’s festivities ended with an excellent fireworks display and releasing of Lanna Khum Loy lanterns at the school’s newly completed fountain area.
