Every parent wants the best for their child and in today's highly competitive environment most want to see them continuing their education in the finest university that offers the course of their choice. As a new school, Varee Chiangmai International School’s history is short but impressive nonetheless. Our graduating class achieved a 100% pass rate at matriculation level in 2007 and 2008 and is proud to note the success of the first student to be accepted into the Faculty of Medicine at Mahidol University, the start of what we hope will be a trend.
National standards require many assessments during the run up to university application and our staff pay very close attention to students’ study, reviewing and reporting on their progress each month. This level of support covers not only the specific subject areas but revision of fundamental learning skills and exam technique, culminating in a ten day tutoring camp directly before sitting the admission exams.
To cater for students who plan to continue their studies at international universities or other institutions abroad, VCS has extended the English Programme into Mattayom and, with standardised tests as the benchmark, parents can be confident that their children will be up with the best in terms of English proficiency.
While the ultimate goal of secondary education may be progression to further study and a fulfilling career, it's not entirely about academic effort. VCS offers lots of cooperative and disciplinary enhancing activities at secondary level, such as the Student Council, chapel, cadets, music bands, sports, the ambitious school annual performance and various volunteer work programmes. There are also opportunities for hands-on activities such as field trips, local knowledge, nature preservation and camps.
We also encourage ongoing development of social skills, teamwork and leadership with Youth Leader Seminars and actively support students' applications for Overseas Exchange Programmes sponsored by outside organisations.
